Waves and Waves 2: Notorious are both pretty good dual-stick shooters and sadly the developer behind them passed away after a battle with cancer and as a last wish made both games free to keep for everyone.
Announced in a post on Steam, their partner “CJ” mentioned the passing of Rob Hale a fortnight ago (post dated August 14) and they wanted to make the announcement sooner but it was understandably a bit difficult. As they said, making the games free was “something Rob had been considering anyway over the last couple of months as their health got into bigger trouble, so hopefully that can be seen as a giveaway. farewell for anyone who has yet to play either of these games.”
I played Waves 2: Notorious in 2019 after speaking with Hale, and it was a joy to play.
The message on Steam ends with a note: “So I hope all of you, whoever you are and however Rob’s games have reached you, that you can at least hold a special place for games Waves, and may they continue to bring you many more hours of relaxation, challenges and perhaps even frustration, but most of all I hope you can continue to feel the passion and love that Rob has poured into these games long after the pain of their passing begins to fade.
Rest in peace Rob Hale.
