Hyderabad: Social media users claim that Tata Motors has launched a new Cab-e taxi service in Mumbai and Pune.
The text written in Hindi can be translated as: “Tata has launched a new Cab e taxi service in Mumbai and Pune. The best alternative to Ola and Uber…Tata always helps the nation in difficult times. I ask you all to share this as much as possible. Download the app from play store.”
Along with the text, a link to download the app from the Play Store is also shared.
NewsMeter received the viral text on WhatsApp.
We also found a Facebook post by a user on March 19, 2022.
Fact check
The allegation is false.
By clicking on the link, we were directed to the Play Store. We then searched for the app in the about section. However, we found no mention of the service belonging to the Tata group.
We also researched the service on their website.
According to information on the website, “CAB-EEZ Infra Tech (P) Limited (Brand name: “Cab-e”) is a technology marketplace providing a technology platform (built in house) that supports an online mobile taxi booking service for a fleet of fully electric taxis – for local, intercity, rental, bespoke B2B and personalized travel – with the sole aim of contributing significantly to the Indian government’s push for 100% electric mobility by 2030.”

We searched social media for the company’s handle and found a post on its Facebook page. CAB-E’s message dated March 29, 2019 clarified that it is a private organization and that Tata does not hold any stake in it.
A similar message was also shared by the organization on its LinkedIn page a year ago.
Therefore, it is obvious that the claim made through the viral message is false. Tata Groups have not launched Cab-e services in Pune and Mumbai.
